In recent years, the EPP has become particularly active in the OSCE-PA (Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe – Parliamentary Assembly) Parliamentary Assembly and has continued its work as the largest political group in the organisation. The group is composed of EPP and likeminded parliamentarians from 56 Member States from Vancouver to Vladivostok. Since 2008 the group has been chaired by Walburga HABSBURG DOUGLAS (Moderaterna, Sweden). During the Annual Session in Oslo (Norway), the EPP and likeminded group has elected the following Vicepresidents: Consiglio DI NINO (Conservative Party, Canada), Vigilia Aleknaite ABRAMIKIENE(TS-LKD, Lithuania), Laura ALLEGRINI (PdL, Italy) and George TSERETELI (UNM, Georgia).
The OSCE is particularly active in promoting the resolution of conflicts, consolidating democracies and monitoring the elections. Parliamentarians from the EPP’s political group ensured clean, free and democratic elections in FYROM with Pia CHRISTMAS-MØLLER (Denmark) as head of Delegation; in Montenegro, Moldova, and Albania with Wolfgang GROSSRUCK (Austria) as head of Delegation; in Kyrgyzstan with Consiglio DI NINO (Canada) as head of Delegation; and in Ukraine.
During the Annual Session in Oslo (Norway), the EPP maintained its leading functions with five Vice Presidents Oleh Bilorus (Ukraine), Jean Charles Gardetto (Monaco), Wolfgang Grossruck (Austria), Riccardo Migliori (Italy) and Pia Christmas-Møller (Denmark). The EPP is also strongly represented in the General Committee on Political Affairs and Security with Karl-Georg Wellmann (Germany) as Chair and Canan Kalsin (Turkey) as Rapporteur; on economic Affairs, Science, Technology and Environment with Roland Blum (France) as Chair and Serhiy Shevchuk (Ukraine) as Rapporteur; on Democracy, Human Rights and humanitarian Questions with Walburga Habsburg Douglas (Sweden) as Chair and Robert Alderholt (United States) as Vice Chair.
