Polish elections: EPP hails great victory of Bronislaw Komorowski in Presidential elections
The President of the European People's Party (EPP), Wilfried Martens, warmly congratulated this evening Bronislaw Komorowski for his election as President of Poland in the the second round of elections. Komorowski, the candidate of the Civic Platform (a member-party of the EPP) beat PiS leader Jaroslaw Kaczynski with an estimated 52.6 % of the votes.
"I congratulate Bronislaw Komorowski for his great election victory in the Polish Presidential elections. An overwhelming majority of Polish citizens have given Bronislaw Komorowski their trust because he has the leadership qualities and the political gravitas to bring Poland forward. With Komorowski at the presidential helm and Prime Minister Donald Tusk at the governmental helm, Poland has the credibility and confidence to play a leading role in the EU," the EPP President underlined.
