Today marks a historic moment for Moldova and its citizens. Maia Sandu’s re-election as President of the Republic of Moldova, coupled with her strong support for European integration also demonstrated in the recent referendum, signifies a pivotal step forward in the country’s path toward democracy, prosperity, rule of law and security. Despite facing significant electoral interference and disinformation through unprecedented attempts by Russia to undermine its sovereignty and democratic processes, the people of Moldova have reaffirmed their deep commitment to a European future. The EPP has consistently stood by Moldova as a committed partner. We have supported the Moldovan people through challenging times of oligarchic rule. We will continue to do so on your path to fulfil your EU accession aspirations. The parliamentary elections in 2025 will be the next critical step to consolidate Moldova’s pro-EU orientation. This is a fight we will take alongside the Moldovan people. Under the leadership of Maia Sandu, Moldova has made significant efforts bringing the country closer to Europe. We can clearly see the results of this impressive effort in terms of democratization and reforms. We remain confident that, despite Russia’s attempts to divide Europe, we will continue to work together to unite our continent.
