EPP Foreign Affairs Ministers met this morning in Brussels, chaired by EPP Vice-President David McALLISTER, to prepare the Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) agenda. The interim Federal Chancellor of Austria, Alexander SCHALLENBERG, attended in his function as Federal Minister for European and International Affairs. Ministers exchanged views on the ongoing brutal Russian war of aggression against Ukraine and the need for strengthening the European and transatlantic unity as well as targeting Putin´s shadow fleet. Ministers underlined that the United States will remain Europe´s closest ally, but the EU must act with strong confidence, especially in the areas of competitiveness, security and stability. Furthermore, they discussed the latest positive de-escalatory developments in the Middle East and the undemocratic electoral environment of the latest, neither free nor fair, sham “Presidential elections” in Belarus.
