EPP Finance Ministers, co-chaired by Paschal DONOHOE, Minister of Public Expenditure of Ireland and President of the Eurogroup, and and Valdis DOMBROVSKIS, European Commission Executive Vice President for An Economy that Works for People and Commissioner-designate for Economy and Productivity; Implementation and Simplification, Latvia, met this morning in Luxembourg to prepare today’s Economic and Financial Affairs Council (ECOFIN) agenda. They welcomed Ms Maria Luís ALBUQUERQUE, the EU Commissioner–designate for Financial Services and the Savings and Investments Union from Portugal to their meeting and wished her a successful confirmation hearing in the European Parliament. Ministers then discussed the economic situation in the member states, the economic recovery plan for Europe, namely the implementation of the Recovery and Resilience Facility, as well as the state of play of the economic and financial impact of the Russia's continuous aggression against Ukraine. They finally exchanged views on lessons learnt from the 2024 cycle of the European Semester.
