EPP ministers of Environment met today in Brussels to prepare the upcoming Environment Council. The meeting was chaired by Wopke HOEKSTRA, EU Commissioner for Climate, Net Zero and Clean Growth, from the Netherlands. The Commissioner welcomed the Ministers as well as his colleague, the new Commissioner for Environment, Water Resilience and a Competitive Circular Economy Jessika ROSWALL from Sweden. Mr. Hoekstra underlined his main objectives for the first 100 days of his five-year mandate. He pointed to the “Clean Industrial Deal” being an important instrument for sustainable prosperity and competitiveness. The Clean Industrial Deal will help provide the best conditions for our industry to thrive. It will include several building blocks, such as supporting industrial decarbonisation, enabling access to sufficient and affordable energy, promoting clean technologies, and incentivising investment. The Ministers exchanged views on the main points of the agenda of the upcoming Council as well as the main challenges the member states are facing. They also expressed their high expectations from the new European Commission.
